Your perception is not your reality
Your perception is not your reality
Your perception is your reality is a motivational myth. I have a list of what I call motivational myths. A motivational myth to me is when we take a saying that is not true but we think it is true. And because we think it is true and we act on it, then it squashes our motivation. My favorite one of these motivational myths is “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt us.†A motivational myth is partially true. It takes a truth but it takes it out of bounds, it takes it too far. It is like catching a pass in football, but you catch it out of bounds. Its true sticks and stones do hurt us, but words have hurt us more than sticks and stones ever could! Other people’s words won’t hurt us unless we allow them to but our words can hurt us or help us depending on our words.
People say “your perception is your reality.†It is true as a man or woman thinks so shall they become. And it is true what you perceive as real and act like it is real and believe it is real it will become real, but it may not be real yet. Some people are in denial. Just because you think something is true does not make it true.
Most people take a negative thing and they perceive it is true in their life. They think they will never amount to much or that they are not worthy enough for their dreams to come true. These lies are not reality. These lies are keeping these people from reaching their full potential. Matter a fact when they learn the truth the truth will set them free!
The person that believes a lie is fighting against God and all His angels and the whole universe. This person has turned their God given faith into a destructive force that will keep them from experiencing all that is theirs to have.
Their thoughts, words, perception and actions are not a reality and they are not true but if they do not change their thinking these negative things will become true for them. They will become a reality for them.
Once they change their thinking and their words and their faith and actions they will enter the good fight of faith. They will begin fighting to believe that the realities of God are meant for them even though they are not a reality in their lives yet.
Even God calls those things that are not as though they are. They will begin to walk by faith and not by sight. It is written “faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.†When they start hearing the word and the truth they will receive faith to create the truth in their lives.
It has been written that God will give you the desires of your heart, He will grant to you the things you ask of Him and He will allow Heaven’s will to be done on Earth for you. The rules are these. As the apostle James said “we must ask in faith and we must have our actions line up and agree with our faith and words.†The apostle Peter said that we must walk in loveâ€, faith works by love.
The apostle Paul said that “Now faith is the guarantee (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not yet see and the verdict of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to our natural senses).
So the formula is as follows; we realize that our perception is not born from truth and we are living a lie. We ask the Father for the desires of our hearts. The second we ask Him He sends the answer our way. We might not be able to see, taste, smell, touch or hear the answer with our 5 senses that dominate our outer man. But our 6th sense of faith which dwells in our inner man sees the answer. Our faith receives the answer. Our faith believes we receive it even though we cannot yet see it. Our faith becomes our title deed proving to us the thing we asked for is ours.
We are pregnant with the answered prayer. We cannot see it but it is growing in the womb of our inner man where our faith dwells. We must not abort our answered prayer we must nourish it until it is manifested in our natural world.
We do this when our thoughts, words, beliefs and actions all line up with and agree that God is on our side and wants us to receive the desires of our hearts that we have asked Him for. God calls those things that are not as though they are and so do we. He calls those things that are not (in the natural world) as though they are (because they are in the spirit world). And we do the same.
The apostle Paul said “God spoke the worlds into existence and with that same spirit of faith we speak our world into existence.â€
We need to visualize the thing we want is ours. We need to see us having it. We need to close our eyes and see it as ours. Our faith proves it’s ours even though we cannot yet see it in the flesh. Then we need to say that it is ours. We need to believe it is ours and we need to act like it is ours. Our actions must line up and agree with our thoughts, words and faith and the thing will be ours in the natural because in is already ours in the spirit.
The actions that agree with our thoughts, words and faith are these. If we asked for a car, as we are walking or taking the bus or driving our old beat up car we are thanking Him for our new car. We become grateful in the state we are in. No matter what our physical lives look like we act and talk and think and believe like that the thing we asked for is already ours, because it is!
If it is money we need we act like we have it. We are thankful for the scraps and they become more. We never say we do not have enough. We never complain about lack. We see the Earth and all its bounty and thank God it is all ours. When someone we know prospers or receives what we want we are happy for them.
We clean our old car as we thank Him for the new one. We treat the old car as we would our new one. We give our praise our time and even the button off our suit because we know we have enough. We are not afraid of our future. If we receive a penny instead of a dollar we are thankful. We know that to Him a penny, a dollar, a hundred dollars and a million dollars are all the same.
If we are in a small house or apartment we treat it like it is a mansion. If we want healing from diabetes we do everything the doctor asks, we exercise, eat right and take our insulin as we thank Him for our healing. We say what we want not what we have. We believe Him not our eyes. We see ourselves with the thing that we have asked for.
