People say that life knocks you down. They say that the world is a nasty mean place that wants to destroy you. I don’t say it like that. I say that life is on your side. I say that the universe, God, life and all the angels are on your side and they are not conspiring against you, they are fighting for you.
The fight we are fighting, is not without but within. As the African proverb said “when there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.†The boxer should not say that his opponent is winning ground every time he is hit by him. The boxer should say, “My opponent is getting worn out by hitting me.†You are not getting hit by life, you are hitting life and breaking through. The storm in life is not attacking you, you are the storm! Life is the sky and you are the storm!
The Apostle Paul said “fight the good fight of faith!†The fight is in our minds, not on the outside. We must fight to believe we are winning, not try to win. We must slay the dragon within, for there is none without.
We win every time we get knocked down and then get back up. Les Brown says “when you get knocked down, land on your back. When you land on your back you can look up. When you look up you can get up!â€
Getting up is progress. Getting up is winning. For a sales person to hear the word no is not a defeat for him it is a win. He can identify that this person is not his ideal client or he can identify that his presentation needs improvement, either way he wins. Fall forward, you win or you learn, you never lose!
“If God be for us who can be against us. No weapon formed against you will prosper. We shall overcome!†People say give a hundred and ten present.
I say it is impossible to give a hundred and ten percent of your true potential. You can however give a hundred and ten percent more than you gave yesterday. Because yesterday you did not give a hundred percent of your true potential. The problem is that we are not living up to our true potential. Don’t feel too bad, the apostle Paul said that he hadn’t reached his true potential and was always striving towards it!
What is your true potential? Let’s measure ourselves by that, not what we did yesterday or in the past. Let’s measure ourselves on what we should and could do not where we are or have been. And then don’t give a hundred and ten percent of your past that is too low of a challenge. Do more, do double, triple even ten and a hundred fold.
Don’t have a ten percent increase as a goal. Have a hundred fold increase as a goal and you still won’t reach your full potential. Most people aren’t reaching a tenth of one percent of their true potential. Let’s use pushups as an example. How many pushups can you do?
Let’s take a person out of shape that cannot do even ten push-ups. Let’s say he can only do three. If he does them ten times a day every day, he could double and triple his results in just a few days. It starts in the mind to want to and then the actions follow. He could do as many as thirty pushups within a month. That is a tenfold increase. By the way the world record is 10,507 set by Minoru Yoshida of Japan.
Talent can only get us so far. Your talent will cause you to reach a ceiling of success. If you are not careful you will get comfortable with that level of success. We need to break through that ceiling and start living up to our true potential.
How do we get past the ceiling our talent takes us to? Hard work and skill! Work at it every day. “Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes you perfect.†Ivan Misner. If we practice something wrong over and over we will develop bad habits that will keep us from reaching our true potential.
We need to study and learn our craft from an expert in our field. We need to be the forever apprentice. Always learning and always growing. You start small and you dream big. Don’t settle for small. Don’t compare yourself to yesterday’s achievements or other people’s achievement’s. Compare yourself with your true potential and where you should be. Don’t settle for good enough or the status quo.
You start small because you have seeds of greatness in you. Seeds are small and they can grow into enormous trees and even a whole forest of huge trees! You are a seed with greatness in you. The seed has the life in it. You have the Life of God in you.
You are not the dirt in the garden, you are the seed of life in the garden. You are not the weeds in your garden, you are the seed of life and greatness in the garden. You also have the power to till your dirt, fertilize it and water it. You water it with your positive faith, your positive words and your positive actions. You fertilize it with your spirit of always learning.
You also have the power to remove all the weeds surrounding your seeds of greatness. You have the power to remove anything that is not supporting or giving life to your true and higher self.
To reach your true potential you must walk by faith and not by sight. Just because you cannot see the fruit yet does not mean you are not an apple tree. Just because you cannot see life on your branches does not mean you’re not alive. You might be dormant. It might be winter. Your spring is coming!
Your dreams may not be manifested yet. You might not look rich on the outside, so you walk by faith and not by sight. You believe in your seeds of greatness. You believe you are rich and prosperous. You believe that your dreams and goals will be made into a reality.
So you say: I am! I have! I will! I am Strong! I am life! I am rich! My spring is here! I will not settle until I have reached my true potential! Whatever it takes! It’s not over until I win!â€
