One type of energy I want to focus on is the energy FOCUS. Have you ever thought of focus or focusing as a form of energy? It is. It is a strong form of energy. Matter of fact what you focus on expands. We should focus on the solution not the problem. If you focus on problems they expand and get worse. Think about how a magnifying glass works to start a fire.
A magnifying glass starts a fire through the use of heat from the sun. This is done by positioning the glass so that the sun’s rays pass through the lens, forming a small point of light on a pile of dry kindling. If the sun’s light is hot enough, the kindling is dry enough and the focal strength of the lens is adequate, a fire will eventually spark.
Our minds need to be like a magnifying glass. We do this by focusing on one thing, our one thing, our true purpose or our true calling. There is a passage that really explains this and I think it is misinterpreted. “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is older he will not depart from it.” Most people think this means that if you teach a child right from wrong; when they are older they will do what is right.
Experience tells us that this is not always true. For something to be a principle it has to always be true and always work and always perform as expected. Not every child taught right from wrong has grown to be model citizens, some quite to the contrary. And some kids with no training turned out great. What I think this passage means, and I go to the original text to reach my conclusion. “Train up a child according to their bent.” Bent? Their gifts, calling, talents, true purpose, their one thing, and raise a child according to their bent and they will succeed.
The problem is that most people don’t know what their bent is much less a child’s. When it comes to focus and creating energy we need to be like a magnifying glass by positioning the glass so that the sun’s rays pass through the lens, forming a small point of light on a pile of dry kindling. We need to position our mind, thoughts, words, actions and beliefs so our one true purpose passes through our lives forming a small point of light on our work and in time it will create a spark and a fire!
I have said this before we are not focusing. We are double minded. We are deluding our focus by doing to many things. Whatever you focus on you can create. You must have the end in sight however. You must know what you want and what the finish product looks like. It starts with a goal and then knowledge about that goal and then the focused energy on that goal to create a fire.
If it is running a business, what does that business look like to you through the magnifying glass of your mind’s eye and faith? Most people that run a business, well I should say a business runs most people. Is your business or job running you or are you running it? Most people are focused or unfocused on hundreds of things.
I only focus on seven things. I have seven people that focus on seven other things. They have seven people that focus on their seven things. One person is trying and failing to focus one a hundred things.
77 what if 7 people all had seven people that all had 7 people to focus on 7 things? How many things would that be? 7x7x7x7x7x7x7= 823,543. Wow! How do we do it? Quit focusing on 100 things and focus all your energy on 7 things and surround yourself with likeminded people. I look for people that can take over sections of my business so I don’t have to focus on them
Focus on what you are good at and what you can control. Focus what you are passionate about. Find out what your bent is and do it! Focus on what you love and start a fire!
